If you are injured in any capacity while at the station, on a call, training, drilling, stand-by, organized sport, what have you: in short in any capacity that would legitimately be recognized as a fire company / first aid function, you have the opportunity and right to seek medical assistance and coverage through the township as part of the coverage provided as an “employee of the town” vis a vis your membership in the company (this includes juniors and those who are in the process of joining)
Replacement posters will shortly be rehung at the firehouse, but you need to call FIRST MANAGED CARE OPTIONS at 800-831-9531 preferably before seeking treatment, but if life threatening or serious within 24 hrs of the incident (someone can also call for you).
Certainly, any member who wishes to leverage their personal medical insurance or attend a particular physician can do so, but must do so with the understanding that they will potentially be liable for out of pocket costs that won’t be picked up by the township or the fire company or may not be eligible to be covered under the township plan if contact is made after the fact or to far after the incident.
This will also be posted on the members section of the website
Remember – call FIRST MANAGED CARE OPTIONS at 800-831-9531 It is a 24 X 7 phone line.
